Provo MTC - Day One 22
July 2013
I have died and gone to
Heaven! This place is more than
wonderful. Old people by the dozens,
young people by the thousands and me and Dan.
Everyone is helpful and nice and continually telling us we are not bound
by the same rules as the young missionaries.
Such as:
We can carry and use cell
phones.
We can carry and use
computers and communicate with anyone anytime.
We can leave the MTC after
class ends at 4 pm and go anywhere and do anything.
We can go shopping and
leave our companion behind!
We can drive our car
around.
We can go out to eat.
We can go home at night
and return in the morning.
Because there are so many
senior couples we are in the “overflow”, the Provo Marriott, executive suite,
deluxe and comfortable! We go to class
from 8-4 pm and have 3 delicious meals at in the MTC cafeteria. They have many
meals to choose from. They also serve
cold cereal and peanut butter and jam sandwiches at every meal and don’t be
surprised if you see half the young men filling up on 2 or 3 bowls of cereal
AFTER their dinner. We have enjoyed
turkey burgers, fish ‘n chips, spaghetti and meatballs, super moist chocolate
cake and huge chocolate chips cookies.
My love for this place started in the cafeteria.
The other wonderful thing here are the people. They are from half the world going out to serve the other half. These couples are doing service, humanitarian work, job training, educational training, charity work and dozens of other things. They are rich and poor, short and fat, old and older, but all of us are delighted to be together learning how to bring some relief to others. The Church’s foresight, resources and connections are unbelievable! It is very exciting to be a fraction of this effort.
Leaving for the MTC
Can't wait to hear about day one in Asia!
